We are looking to replace our workstations at the office and are considering Dell Optiplex kit. The processor speeds are 1.8ghz to 2.2ghz. These are really quick machines and are welcomed for our mostly VFP applications. However, we do run one main system that is still in FPW2.6a (not yet ported to VFP) so, whilst we want to buy machines biased towards VFP, our 2.6 systems have still got to be able to run on them.

Our 2.6 system runtimes have the fast CPU patch applied (the MS patch). The fastest machine I have run the 2.6 system is my Dell Inspiron 7500 750mhz P3 deveopment laptop. The last time we bought office w/stations was about three years ago and they were AMD 350's ! These new Dells are a massive jump in performance, but whatever we buy, they are all in the 1-2ghz P4 arena.

Question is - has anyone any experience of running patched 2.6a on these really fast machines? Any comments would be much appreciated.
