When I use textmerge I get a blank line on top of the file, is there a way I can get rid of this?

SET TEXTMERGE TO (lcFile)
SET TEXTMERGE ON NOSHOW

SCAN
\<><>
ENDSCAN
SET TEXTMERGE TO
SET TEXTMERGE OFF
