Looks like the Access guys got ahold of the design grid, doesn't it. ;-)

If you like the older view better, consider designing your tables through the diagram window; i.e., open up a diagram window and design your tables from there. If you go that route, then you can set up custom views of what information you want to appear in your table design windows, and they lay out the old way (i.e, everything across in columns instead of top/bottom format).
