I haven't read "Inside SQL Server" and to be honest with you, I don't know if I disagree or agree to your claim that SQL Server is also ISAM that's why I did emphasize xBase ISAM. And being just neophyte with SQL Server, I am not really sure if it's also ISAM or not because unfortunately, books that I've read never mentioned ISAM or maybe I overlooked them. What I am sure is that xBase tables are ISAM and SQL Server is set-based. Agreeing that the latter is ISAM is purely based on what you've said mentioning the book "Inside..."
