Hi - look again at your Samba Configuration - there will be something in there...

I am just starting out with Linux - I have Mandrake on my box and I have it connected up to a Win 2k box - what I have to do is create an identical user as I have in Win2k - so I have chrism - no password on Win2k and chrism no password on Linux - then I set chrism as owner of the folder you shared in Samba - I also set guest ok etc and I put chrism in the Samba configuration too but I am telling you this from memory - my rig is at home...
