Allan,

As the end user of a commercial application built with Access 2000 .... use MSDE. I haven't used it myself yet, but Access 2000 is a real pain ... databases corrupt easily ... you have to create sometimes lots of databases to reduce contention for the data. The commercial application I use is considering going to MSDE ... we actually would like them to go to SQL Server.

My understanding of MSDE is that it is a "baby" SQL Server that can be distributed with a royalty free runtime just like Access. It is on my list of things to do to convert my application to MSDE or SQL Server.
