>Hello all,
>We have converted our application to Windows and are using VFP6 with our current version. We have noticed that when we sentd a report TO FILE ASCII we don't get the nice columns and spacing that we had in our DOS based versions. What is happening here? Is there any way to get a file that doesn't smash all the data together and preserves the basic structure of the reports as they would appear on the screen or printer. I don't want the formatting to carry over, just all the data with appropriate spacings.

Hi Eric,
The result depends on how complex your report is. Does it have more than 1 detail line? If yes, I doubt, you would achieve good results. I had a bitter experience with this option, so I ended by doing such reports "programmatically". I've designed a simple program, which converts Reports to "draft" program (this program still will need adjustments after its creation, but it's a start point). If you're interested, send me a request to work e-mail, I'll send this program to you.
If it's not broken, fix it until it is.
