With all the stuff added to the dashboard recently, the width of the bar should be increased to at least 120 pixels in order to accomodate the scroll bar.

You can set the width in the dashboard section of the account setup.
You can also choose which options to expand by default, personnally I have search, online, timewarp and replies expanded while offline and favorites are colapsed.

The dashboard look great with no mess for me
after this little cosmetic adjusting :-)
