Hmmm, did I miss this the first time around, or was it a revision from your orginal post?

>What is the industry standard? How does C# conform to this industry standard?

I never said "the" industry standard. I said "industry standards". What would those be? Well, the syntax comes from C and C++ both standards. Its also very similar to Java, and many would hold that as a standard. FInally, the lnaguage itself is its own standard. So we have 3 standards where the language is rooted, meanwhile, VB.NET is completely proprietary.

>In general, you could simply answer the question of why conformance makes for easier learning.

You're reaching now.

But... if I know the standards like C and C++, or the de facto standard like Java, I will already know most of what C# has to offer, meanwhile, VB.NET will be completely unfamiliar to me, requireing that I expend additional effort learning VB.NET details.

Why the additional effort? Instead of being vague like your generaliztions, I could bring up the fact that where I already know if {} and for {} and void {} from other langauges that I can apply to C#, I'll have to spend time meorizing the equivalents in VB.NET: IF... END IF, FOR... NEXT, FUNCTION.... END FUNCTION. I could also bring out how bitwise operations work differently than every other language I'm familiar with.

>Be careful about the doors you open. Don't make a statement or ask a question that you don't know the answer to. For sure, I'll call you on it...

And that is supposed to mean what to me?

>FWIW, there are a lot of questions I have posed that are still on the table.

Like what? And what happened to the spectator status comment? Decided that one wasn't ready for prime time, huh?
