Steve,

The deal is the Mere Mortals Framework is a derived from the original VFP 3 Codebook, as published in a book of that title by Y. A. Griver, ISBN 0-7821-1648-5. Its like a $39.99 book you need to buy in order for the original author to get his piece of the pie, and can be found at most of the programmer book sites on the web. The book comes with a CD but all you really from it is the first page to send to Oakleaf.

My learning curve was that I came from approx. 8 years of xbase programming with dBase on thru the whole history of Fox products. FoxPro has been the only PC-based programming language I've developed applications with, so my learning curve here was primarily going from top down structured programming to the wonderful world of OOP. I took the VFP 3 Microsoft Certification course at ISResearch in Cinncinatti last March, and used VFP 5 instead of 3 in the classroom. This was my first and only exposure to VFP and it pretty much blew me away. I didnt really have the oppurtunity to get hands on with VFP until late July, so what I did learn in the class was pretty rough by then. I felt like I was flying blind until reviewing the Developers Guide that comes with the full blown Mere Mortals Framework, and then everything fell into place pretty quick. Thats why I always say the documentation with this product is worth its wait in gold... its written by a professional tech writer (instead of one of us programmers) and makes more sense to me in many areas than the VFP documentation does.

If you have any more questions about Mere Mortals Framework let me know, or post a new message here on UT under their category and I'm sure Kevin McNeish will give you better details then I can. HTH
