The standard way of interacting with the user in VFP is forms, menus, reports, and the like. Commands like @...GET are included for backwards compatibility. I used FoxPro quite a while ago, and don't remember the syntax too well. If VFP doesn't work exactly the same as old FP, well, perhaps it is time to use the new approach. Or perhaps somebody else knows workarounds.
But I strongly recommend using new approaches: forms for input; don't use BROWSE, use grids instead; use buffering; etc.
