Last 'blast from the past' question ...

Is there a way for FPW 2.6 to safely and consistently display high resolution color BMP's - BMP's with more than 16 colors?

Are there gotchas I need to be aware of regarding palettes, etc?

Ideally I would like to be able to do this in plain FPW. However, I am open to using a 3rd party product or Windows API call if that is what is required. If anyone has any comments on 3rd party solutions (performance, compatibility, reliability), I'm open to this type of suggestion as well.
