I tried this about 10 times. I don't get the crash. Is there anything missing from your steps?

For example, are you creating the form from a project, is it based on a class, do you have the Property Window docked, do you have the Form Designer maximized, any thing else that is not in your steps?

I tested on Windows 2000 SP2. Here's what I did:

1. From Command Window:
modify form test

2. Add a grid by clicking on grid in Form Controls toolbar and placing it on the form.
3. In the Properties Window (I tried it dockable and not dockable), set the grid columncount to 10
4. In the Properties Window, select Column1 from the dropdown.
5. Click on the titlebar of the Form Designer.
6. Press the Delete key
7. Press yes when prompted to delete the column and all its controls.

Observed:

No error, column is deleted.

This sounds similar to a bug we fixed in SP1, documented here: http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q315/0/75.asp

Let me know if my steps are different from yours.
