It's actually interesting that they had to cancel it. Usually ski jumps are just constructed on the side of a mountain. Here, they dug away the mountain so that one side of the jump is protected by the mountain. They said they did that to keep down the winds.
I ski just a couple of miles from Utah Olympic Park where the ski jumping is at and most of the time there isn't much wind.
