Dear Ed

Your argument seems somewhat Victorian- "the rules are the rules and we must be humble, certain that our betters know what they are doing".

As for the world being cast in my image...

Start with cllphn txt msgs. No Case. Awful spelling. Meaning Clear.

Look at Word Processors. A word processor that failed to handle sentence Case automatically would be regarded as "backward" in 2002.

Look at professions such as medicine and law, working hard to eliminate complexity "for its own sake" and to assist all of us to participate better.

Mature professions do not rely on complexity or arcane rules. That would be pompous.

IMHO the modern world eschews pointless expression rules or arcane syntax. Proper grammar and spelling is noted but not demanded. The world focuses on meaning. IT is expected to "assist".

A language introduced in 2002 that insists on correct Case for no good purpose, is at odds with the world IMHO. There are other (and better) ways to ensure correct compilation apart from Case.

Regards

JR
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
