How many records in the table? Maybe you could copy some of the records to a an empty copy of the problem table (making sure you have a copy of the problem table first). Then do a pack. I don't know if you have enough space for the copies though.

BTW, you might check the drive space too, I think you need about two to three times the table size (including CDX and FRT) as free space when packing.
