Well, I think I figured it out (or at least a workaround)...

When I use dbsetprop to set the update properties of the view and the fields within the view, it appears that afterward, I need to close the open view and reopen in order to apply the changes...?

Not quite sure why, but that lets me update through the grid with tableupdate...otherwise it returns .t. and does nothing...wierd.
