Can anyone clarify the size limits of files in FoxPro 2.6 for Windows running on Windows 95 system? (This will be converted soon to VFP on Windows 2000 but I have to manage its size in this environment now and just lost 2GB of data.)
The documentation says: "The actual file size (in bytes) cannot exceed 2 gigabytes for single-user or exclusively opened multi-users .DBF files. Shared multi-user .DBF files with no indexes or .IDX indexes cannot exceed 1 gigabyte. Shared multi-user .DBF files with structural .CDX indexes cannot exceed 2 gigabytes."
This is confusing to me. I recall someone posting on another site that the size limit is 2GB for each of the .DBF, .CDX, and .FPT files--I don't recall if that is for Visual FoxPro. Is there a difference between FPW and VFP in this regard?
I look forward to your answers. I have a .DBF file that is approaching 1GB today (978MB now), and I better stop production to make it smaller if the limit is 1GB, not 2GB (this is a multi-user application and there is a .CDX file of 356MB attached).
Thanks!
