After considerable wasted effort, i have finally discovered a cure for Foxpro Win 2.6's slow screen updating. For some reason, a screen that had been functioning properly, started to refresh slowly. I am changing the PROMPT's on 36 buttons, and it was visibly 'struggling' to do so.

Apparently, by issuing a HIDE WINDOW xxx , then redefining the button text, then ACTIVATING the window, the speed problem goes away. OK, now I can look my client in the eye. The only problem that remains is the annoying *flash* that the above operation causes. For some reason, known only to the most high at Microsoft, they saw fit to do away with the HIDE WINDOW SAVE clause in the windows version. That would have solved the flashing problem.

Does anyone have a workaround for the missing SAVE clause?
