Don't know about FP 2.0, but FP 2.5 DOS destroys memo field contents when the current codepage does not match the one in the table header and the memo field is longer than 512 bytes. I frequently got that error message when I opened a project and Windows has silently changed back to codepage 850 instead of 437.
