Check out Markus Egger's Implementing Custom ASP.NET Web Controls in the Nov/Dec 2001 issue of CoDe Magazine (I believe it is issue 4 on the back issues page of the web site). In that article he explains how to create a custom "Flat button" control for use in ASP.NET applications. You can find more information about it at http://www.eps-software.com/code.
