You are referring to VINYL, correct? This is from

With vinyl the longer the sides are on the record, the quieter the record will be.
You can squeeze up to around 25 minutes on an LP at 33 1/3rpm, but it will be a quiet record compared to one with 15 minute sides.
Also tracks with lots of bass actually create wider grooves, so to cut a loud and bassy track you have to keep the side lengths down
