I've see this occasionally with the listbox and the tooltip, especially when the computer was really busy and I switched applications. Triggering another tooltip or listbox always got rid of the previous one. I can't reproduce this reliable though and it doesn't happen that frequently that I feel annoyed.

Have you tried to reduce video acceleration?
