Eek... I hope you read the rest of the thread first. "My Computer" does return "C:\", but Desktop returns the desktop directory under Documents and Settings. I was mis-remembering in my first post. It would be nice, though, if it returned what the user actually clicked on. For my purposes, there is a difference between the Desktop that's at the top of the tree and the desktop folder buried down in the tree.

>That's strange. I've reported the behavior to the development team, but in the meantime, you could try using Christof's STRUCT.VCX to call the SHBrowseForFolder API call, and see if you get a more accurate return there.
