Can someone give me some examples of a way to set up html that will allow a user to establish a one to many relationship.
What I have is this. A problem report comes in. This problem report can affect one or more items. The items are in a lookup table. So when the user comes in to establish a problem report via the web. What is the best way to allow them to choose one or more items that that problem affects?
In the past I have asked the user on average how may items would be affected normally. If they said 4 then I would create 4 SELECT OPTION boxes that the user would choose from when establishing a problem record. If more were required then they would just check a box and another screen would be brought up after the problem record was added allowing them to link up to 4 more items to the problem record.
I know that the present method is not the best, but with my limited experience with web design it is the best I could do.
Anyone out there have another way of getting one to many linking of records via web pages?
I hope this makes sense.
