Yes roles have been created and user accounts have been added but that's not my problem. My problem is providing an appropriate account for the COM+ application to "run as".

In COM+ Application's Properties->Identity you have to specify the account to use for "This application will run under the following account." Instead of Interactive user I'm trying to use "This user: " and specify userid/password to use. Question is, what level of access must this user account have in order to work at all. Thus far, it appears it needs at least local admin-level access in order to work. I can't use just ordinary user account to use.

>>Then Craig, in your personal experience, what level of access/priviledge do you use when setting up a "special" user account to use for the COM+ component? Thus far, I can't get the component to work w/o having local admin access to the computer the component is running on.

FYI, only thing I could think of so far is that since my COM+ component uses transactions that it requires access to MSDTC services. Otherwise, it just connects to MSSQL Server that also reside on the same server to insert/update/delete data using a valid MSSQL user account.

>>>Yup, that's the way I would do it. Under no circumstances would I leave the component running under an Administrator account.
It's "my" world. You're just living in it.
