>>Taken in that context we should learn to spend more time enjoying the commercials. After all they help pay the bills for the events. :)

>Lets take for example the 10 minutes of TV I've watched this week at my girlfriend's house. It was Olympic coverage, of course, and I saw a couple minutes of Canadians playing British Rock and this horrible story about people in Salt Lake City going nuts over these lame berrets. Not sure what any of that has to do with sports.

Mike;

I also feel better as I watched about 10 minutes of the Olympic games and that was enough.

When I was 6 years old television was introduced to the San Francisco Bay Area. My father began a business selling and installing television sets and had five people working for him. We grew up listening to radio and watching television.

Some years ago our television set quit working. For three months I did not attempt to repair or replace it. I finally gave in and purchased our first color television. During the three months we were without a tv my wife and I talked to each other more, read books and visited friends. I find life was more fun without the tele.

Today our youth is called ‘”couch potatoes” and obesity is a national problem along with low academic scores. TV and video games do not exercise a large number of muscles of the human body or improve ones mind. My hat is off to you for getting rid of your tv set.

You can tell how important your relationship is with your family or friends when you go to visit. If they turn off the television set when you arrive at their house that is a sign you are important to them. Otherwise consider they like commercials more than they like you! :)
