How can I have a DNS-less connection without a local and file DSN? I can create the local DSNs through the registry. How do I create a file DSN? With just a file in the directory as you described? Damn MSFT has to make this so difficult....
>>On this NT PC, I first ran 2.6 and then 2.1. Is MDAC suppose to add the MS Access Driver to the Local DSN? What am I missing?

>MDAC adds no DSNs. As Sergey posted, it installs drivers and that's it. You have to create the DSNs yourself (or use a DSN-less conenction). Both File and Local DSNs are associated with the current user. The System DSNs are global for the PC.

>Because you installed 2.6 first, it may be that 2.1 doesn't install at all because a newer version already exists. Try the Jet 4.0 Service Pack located on the same download page. Once you do that check the Drivers tab of the ODBC Administrator dialog. See if Microsft Access Driver (*.mdb) is listed. If it is, you need to specify this for your DSN or in your connection string for a DSN-less connection.
