If there is a possibility that your table may be assigned a different codepage (for international reasons) and the data in a character field contains binary data (not string of characters) you want to use a Character Binary field. This field will NOT be converted to foreign characters but rather left alone by VFP. The same is true of Memo binary. Other than preventing conversion these field types are exactly the same as their counterparts without the binary designation
