The figure scating is a "subjective" sport. I also heard Scott's comments, but I disagree with him. In my opinion, Yagudin's performance was the best and clean. May be I think so, because I like him, and I dislike Plushenko...

Timothy scated his best in both Short and Long's programs and I like his programs, but they missed dynamics and speed...

A brilliant performance by the second ranked competitor may be enough to win, but the same performance by the third ranked competitor usually won't be. IMO this seems to be true in all the "judged" sports (figure skating, gymnastics, diving, etc.)
