Your advice was excellent but I used it a different way.
First I went to Tools | Options and I found that the temp files were being stored in c:\temp. I then checked and found that the C:\TEMP directory was being for a lot of stuff because there were several subdirectores.
So I want back to Tools | Options and changed the temp directory to c:\temp2 and now beautify works fine!
Thanks for pointing me in this direction.
