Thanks so much for your help. My documents are very complicated so I cannot, at this point, convert from Word.Basic. (I tried and it caused too many errors.)But I did find the main culprit in my "linking of documents" problem. It was a new FaxServer that had recently been installed and permanently would set a flag not allowing Word docs through until the FaxServer had been restarted. In other words, my unlinking the documents programmatically was working all along. Thank you very much.
