In a case where you need this sort of flexibility, I recommend using the SQL pass-through data access object rather than the view data access object in the Business Object Builder. When you launch the builder, and click "Add", select SQL Passthrough as the "Data Access Type". Check out the instructions in the Dev Guide for setting up data access this way. Even though you're actually accessing VFP data and aren't truly doing SQL pass-through to a client-server database, the concept is still the same.
