>I had heard warnings regarding the beta versions of VisualStudio.NET against installing it on a development workstation due apparently to instabilities that could make it necessary to reinstall the OS. In other words, if you wanted to use VS.NET, put it on a different PC than the one you earn your living on.

Like Craig said now VS.NET, VS6, VFP7 alll on the same machine working happily.
However when I installed release version first time on w2k just after components update phase my all OLEDB interfaces were rendered useless including SQL server enterprise manager, windows media player etc. It was obviously one of the DLLs but which one (probably OLEAUT32 or something like that). After struggling with it for a few days I surrendered and installed all from scratch on clean XP. Now all works well (and faster:).
