Ah. A misunderstanding it seems. From the original message, I thought the problem was in the IDE vs. in the distribution. They are a different animal...

>Exactly. I believe there is a thread here somewhere about it also. I had to subclass it to get rid of the error when I distributed the app. Once I used the subclass of mscomm32, it worked fine in the distributed app on my clients' workstations.
