The Data object has the responsibility to ineract with the Data Store in a specific way determined by the exact data store involved, whether it be FP,SQL Server, Oracle, MySql... The Data object may return XML, ADO, or Cursors to the Bus Class based upon the agreed protocol of the Bus object. The Bus object interfaces to the Gui object by way of the GUI required protocol.

Glenn;

I am out of breath just reading that! :) As Steve said, an existing application framework is a good investment. Also, the more you can read on this subject the better. If you are interested I can send you a zipped file of the Com codebook. YAG's site is down at present, but there is some interesting reading.

I use VFE and that would be a good choice. I also use Visual MaxPro Professional (VMP), which has just come out with a new version that is n tier. The documentation for VMP can be found here:

http://www.visionds.com/VMPSite/VMP2002/tutorials.asp

It might be a good idea to see what other application frameworks have tutorials that can be downloaded and go through them.
