I'm new to VFP, but can't seem to get to understand this problem I have. (I can't seem to get help on this one)

I open a table from the command window eg USE myfile. I then create a new form, and add a textbox. I want to assign a fieldname to this textbox, from a dropdown list. I then double click on the textbox.controlsource property. However, there are no fields in the dropdown list, it is blank. Why? How do I get it populated with fields.?

(In foxpro 2.6, during the design of a form, the fields were always available if there was an open table/s.) ( I realize that if you add the table to the DE, then the textbox.controlsource does become populated with that tables fields. However I want to know if there is some easy way of getting the form to "recognise" the open table during the design of the form, when the table (or view) is not a part of the form.)

Any help (at this low level) would be appreciated.
