Mike,

You can alternatively put a transparent shape over the cells of the grid. I have posted code like that here in the past. It gets kind of tricky to pass left clicks on down to the appropriate cell but it can be done. The threads where this has been discussed where "how can I keep the mouse pointer an arrow while over a grid". It's been a year or so since I've posted the code, but you should be able to click my name and go down to my message history and find it. You can search for messages containing objtoclient where I am the poster too.
