Steve..
You have a lot of time on your hands...< s >..
Notice that I said ONE of hte most cited VFP resources on MSDN. How many people refer to the ADO Whitepaper? A lot: here and the Wiki < bg >. And many have found it to be a valuable resource. Today, I would agree that it is a resoruce that needs to be updated. It is only 1 article (55 pages) - but I think it was a significant contribution.
Since you brought this into controversy, I did a search on your name. There were three hits. Light topics that don't have the substantive content of my 1 article and quite frankly, based on the reviews, not well received or perceived as all that useful by the readership.
I am sure you had a point to prove, I am not sure what it was...You should consider dropping your line in a different pond as this one does not have bite...< s >...
The point is that Mr. Campos comes from the POV that I don't know what I am talking about when it comes to publishing. The fact is, publishers rarely technically qualify people that write books. I know this becuase I have been asked to write books on topics and subjects with which I have no practical experience. My internal moral compass does not allow me to perpetuate the fraud that continually goes on. IMO, if you don't have practical experience and/or worked with something on a substantive basis, you have no business writing books on the topic. I agree with Rick that writing articles is a great way to learn and in that domain, the same rule IMO does not apply.
The bottom line, I understand how the publishing business works. Having been involved in 4 projects with other people and 1 project by myself more than qualifies me as somebody with at the very least - an "informed" opinion...
Toodles...
