It simply means "don't build until you're done". In your test runs, simply run the main.prg or whatever is the starting point in your app, or write a little prg which will simulate the runtime environment (clear all, close data all, set path to etc) and launch the app - from the command window. When all works that way, and you want to build the executable, then you can do your backups and build an executable.
On my current project I build an executable maybe once or twice a week - except when I'm preparing a deliverable. During that phase I may build one every five minutes, but then I'm doing nothing big, and I already have everything backed up.
