Remote views are slower than SPT. In my experience the speed difference is pretty minimal and doen't have any relation to the number of records you're querying. The one thing to watch out for is to make sure the view is set to return all the reocords at once. Unless you want progressive fetching, you'll get much faster results this way. This is especially true for large result sets.
