Yes, the use of the word "you" is interesting, being in the second or third person. Ambiguous isn’t it! Our language allows another person to take what is meant in a number of forms. That is why English is such a great language for politics, and economics to just name two areas of usage where it excels. It takes teams of attorneys, judges and courts to decide on the meaning or use of one word. First sign a contract and then sue over what it means.

Perhaps someday “it” will be used as “it” is the indefinite object. Why be specific? After all we are talking about English as used in the United States. Strange how we have so many rules, exceptions to rules and so on. Then we have groups that insist on how and why words must be used. Yes ours is a dynamic language and you can be sure that it will remain so.
