>>In an effort to increase my weight and become even more lazy <g>, I want to control our Linux server from my Windows XP Pro desktop. Should I use VNC or install some kind of X-server on Windows?

>I tried VNC, but it made my Linux box hang on boot. However, I later realised I never set a password in the VNC server, so it may be the reason for my problems. I haven't had the need to try again, so I didn't.

>If you do find an X-Server for Windows, let me know! I didn't find one! But I admit I looked for a free solution, since it was purely for the fun of trying it - not for business reason.
You can telnet into your Linux sever and use the kill command to the VNC server to allow a reboot... but why would anyone want to reboot a linux server? Mine has only been down once in about 180 days, and that was for lightening overhead, 84 days ago.
