Hope I am someone of the other folks, so I may contribute <g>.
>What is the normal way of usage of Data Access Objects (DAO) within a Business Object (BO) - is the normal way to have 1 DAO per BO or more than one?
That's an interesting question, for which I haven't found a final answer as well. At the moment my understanding is, that the usual case is to have one DAO (v_client) per BO (client). Other DAOs might be needed for lookups etc. But if you want to have a client list with a different select list that is updatable you should create a separate BO for this. My knowledge is not really complete at this point, so I'm curious about what other people say.
>Otherwise is some code within the BOs, which talks by default only to the main data access object.
IMO one reason for this is, that only the main DAO can be updated. All the other DAOs are R/O, so the code in the BO only has to talk to the main DAO.
