>I have an application that runs w/o problems on Windows 98 and Windows 2000. The application uses Word to mailmerge data from VFP tables. The mailmerge document's data source is simply the path to the DBF file (e.g. no ODBC involved here).

I tried other DBF files and itss the same problem. I know its not Office XP since I installed it on Windows 2000 and it works fine.

There may be an incompatibility in the DBF format. Try to open the file in VFP and COPY TO ... TYPE FOXPLUS. This is compatible with the old dBASE format, and should work for most programs.
