Actually, MaxFrame is not derived from CodeBook.

>Visual FoxExpress
>Visual ProMatrix
>Visual MaxFrame

>The first two are differ in approach from the second two, and, IMO, are easier to learn. They consist of GUI interfaces to both predefined classes and to VFP that make design and generation of applications super easy.

>While MaxFrame is improved considerably over CodeBook (a topic for CodeBook is on UT) they both have a steep learning curve in that predefined classes and their PEMs have to be learned (just like learning a bunch of Java classes) and methods of 'hooking' them into your application framework mastered. When you adopt a commerical framework you put yourself into two upgrade cycles: VFP and the framework.

>Both types of frameworks have up and down sides, and only you can determine which, if any, tool is best for your situation.

>I only glanced at FoxExpress. I was awed by MaxFrame but found ProMatrix MUCH easier to learn. However, frameworks tend to have a lot of baggage. I ended up creating and using my own framework of sorts, built on VFP's fundamental classes.
