Hi Calvin.

>If I have an input mask in Stonefields 6.0B set to 9999

The input mask isn't actually stored in our meta data -- although you can enter it in SDT, it's stored in the DBC (ie. you could also change it in VFP's Table Designer).

>I know that once I correct the format the data is in the table correctly while before it showed as ****.

The input mask doesn't determine how the data is stored, only how it's displayed. So, while it may appear as **** in a BROWSE window, if you ? FIELDNAME, you should see the data as it's stored.

>Could something of this nature cause the dbc to write or overwrite tables with garbage??

No.
