>The other contenders were ... Python and ... Delphi. We almost choose Python. But because of FoxPro’s Command Box – and the fact that I easily connected to MySQL and wrote a report in about 10 minutes impressed everyone. To tell you the truth I wanted to use Python. But, I’m happy with FoxPro. Also, since the last time I wrote a Fox app was in 1994 – expect a lot of questions.

We use vfp for fat clients and python (thru mod_python) for
intranet stuff, a very neat combo.
Both vpf and python do use their native data but
access c/s database thru odbc.
I have used vfp for years (starting foxbase 0.99...)
The truth is: python has taken my soul but
it is still clearly missing a good IDE and
data-bound controls.
Python is a top environment for intranet stuff
but it is very unlikely that it will replace
vfp and delphi for data-intensive fat win32 ui!
