. The way I read the Codebook copyright you may have some problems if you really do come up with the killer app since, in my opinion, they are not entirely clear as to what you can
>distribute royalty free.

I don't understand what you mean here. I was under the assumption you could deliver any excuatable code with Codebook and have been selling many applications developed with Codebook without paying any royalty to Flash Management. It is interesting though if you wanted to sell a vertical application with source code what they may expect. Anyone would even begin considering actually modifying the a vertical application using the Codebook framework the $39 to purchase the book would be no big requirement at all.

I think I may be able to offer some assistance in selecting frameworks. I've worked with Visual Pro Matrix and found it to be more of an application generator. Drew Speedies MaxFrame is an excellent framework for developing applications and why are considering using it for several simpler applications. It is much more straigt forward that Codebook and fits in more with the natural VFP development cycle.

For true OOP power and resusability you can't beat Codebook. It has a very difficult learning curve and takes some work to get all the paths, include files and rebuild process smooth. However its Codebooks business object concepts allow incredible reusability. The added benefit of the difficult OOP learning curve is you begin to really understand inheritence and creative ways of using classes. Even if you don't use Codebook to develop your own applications a serious professional VFP developer would be well served by understanding it from top to bottom. Be warned at first the array of classes can be daunting and came many times seem unnecessary. I thought the people who put the framework together went way overboard on the OOP when I first started working with the framework. Now I agree with the decision for virtually every class they used. The exception being the OOP menus which I believe creates too many objects for the benefits you receive.
