Thanks David, I looked at SQL functions CONVERT and CAST but no dice. The fix was really easy. I set the view field property to a datetime from date and it works perfectly.
By the way, I was recently working in Austin at the Frost building on Congress. Saw some great music. I still think Joe's Generic Bar has some of the best blues in town.
